This procedure applies to records from Libraries Australia (not other remote sites)
When the best record available in LA is downloaded to Millennium but needs updating for the 008 dates and/or 260c subfield, treat the changes you make as constituting a different edition from that already in LA. Cataloguers may make corrections to the Millennium record as follows (copy cataloguers then place on 5/6 checking shelves):
Add a field 019 1 (used by LA as a superseded record no.)
and copy the LA number from 001 (leave the leading zeros in the number);
delete the 001.
Correct 008 publication dates (don’t change ‘date created’ date)
Correct 260c
Add 040dWMDU
