Embargoed theses

Although we can find out if a thesis is embargoed from the ADT site, this may not correspond to when we do the cataloguing so we would prefer a form of some sort to accompany the item with the info about embargo date, whether this originates from the library when the thesis is submitted or from R&D.

When notified we:

Suppress the bib
Don’t add cat date (not sent to LA)
Add local staff note:
591 Embargoed from patron or staff viewing until [month, year]. When embargo lifted, add cat date and send to LA
Print out record & put in thesis
End processing wraps thesis in brown paper as per non-research thesis procedure.

The prototype example is the Chapman thesis . b2111934x ‘Fighting for the forests : a history of …’

Depending on the outcome we may need to be given a list of currently embargoed research theses in order to update records etc and remove from LA, plus end processing as above
